Ik neem je graag even rustig mee in iets wat voor mij een belangrijk moment is.
Dit jaar vier ik dat ik al tien jaar fulltime mag werken als dierenfotograaf. Dat voelt nog steeds bijzonder om te zeggen. Wat ooit begon als een verlangen om dichter bij dieren en natuur te werken, is uitgegroeid tot een manier van leven en werken die helemaal bij mij past.
In die tien jaar heb ik vooral gewerkt met honden en IJslandse paarden. Vaak buiten, in stilte, op het tempo van het dier. Mijn werk gaat niet over snelle beelden of perfecte momenten. Het gaat over kijken, wachten en aanwezig zijn. Over vertrouwen opbouwen en ruimte laten voor wat zich aandient. Soms gebeurt er lange tijd niets. En soms valt alles ineens samen.
In 2026 wil ik dit jubileum vieren met een expositie bij MoeNieks in Westerwolde, van 1 tot en met 3 mei. Een plek die voelt als een verlengde van mijn manier van werken: rust, ruimte, natuur en aandacht. In deze expositie staat niet alleen het eindbeeld centraal, maar ook het proces dat eraan voorafgaat. Hoe beelden ontstaan. Wat tijd en nabijheid betekenen. Naast fotografie werk ik ook met film, geluid en de omgeving zelf.
Deze jubileumexpositie is bedoeld als een eenmalig moment. Op deze plek, in deze vorm, komt dit niet nog een keer terug. Juist daarom wil ik het zorgvuldig maken, zonder haast en zonder concessies te doen aan hoe ik werk.
Om dat mogelijk te maken, ben ik een crowdfunding gestart. Grote kunstwerken laten maken is kostbaar, laat staan een hele serie. Een crowdfunding live zetten vind ik spannend, eerlijk gezegd. Maar het voelt ook als een logische stap. Crowdfunding past bij dit project omdat ik het graag samen draag. Niet als verkoopactie, maar als uitnodiging. Met de crowdfunding kan ik de grote werken realiseren, de presentatie vormgeven en de ruimte zo inrichten dat het verhaal echt tot zijn recht komt.
Steunen is natuurlijk heel bijzonder en helpt enorm. Maar ook het doorvertellen is van grote waarde. Aan mensen om je heen, aan de keukentafel, in je netwerk, bij de hondenclub, paardenvereniging of natuurorganisatie, of online via social media. Zo groeit dit project verder dan alleen mij en wordt het iets wat we samen mogelijk maken.

Op vrijdag 1 mei 2026 is de expositie geopend voor genodigden.
Op zaterdag 2 en zondag 3 mei 2026 tussen 10:00 - 17:00 uur is iedereen van harte welkom om de expositie vrij te bezoeken.
In deze expositie komen mijn werk met honden en IJslandse paarden, het proces erachter en de plek samen. Het is een eenmalig project, op deze locatie en in deze vorm.

Ten years in business. Why I started a crowdfunding campaign
I would like to take you into something that feels like an important moment for me.
This year marks ten years of working full time as an animal photographer. It still feels special to say that. What once began as a desire to work closer to animals and nature has grown into a way of living and working that truly fits who I am.
Over the past ten years, I have mainly worked with dogs and Icelandic horses. Often outdoors, in silence, moving at the pace of the animal. My work is not about quick images or perfect moments. It is about looking, waiting and being present. About building trust and allowing space for whatever unfolds. Sometimes nothing happens for a long time. And sometimes, everything suddenly falls into place.
In 2026, I want to celebrate this anniversary with an exhibition at MoeNieks in Westerwolde, from May 1 until May 3. A place that feels like an extension of the way I work: calm, space, nature and attention. In this exhibition, not only the final image will be central, but also the process behind it. How images come into being. What time and closeness truly mean. Alongside photography, I will also work with film, sound and the surrounding environment itself.
This anniversary exhibition is intended as a one time moment. In this place, in this form, it will not return. That is exactly why I want to create it with care, without haste and without compromising the way I work.
To make this possible, I have started a crowdfunding campaign. Producing large scale artworks is costly, let alone creating a full series. Launching a crowdfunding campaign feels vulnerable and exciting, to be honest. But it also feels like a natural step. Crowdfunding fits this project because I would like to carry it together. Not as a sales action, but as an invitation. With the support of this campaign, I can realise the large artworks, shape the presentation and design the space in a way that truly allows the story to unfold.
Supporting the project is, of course, deeply meaningful and helps enormously. But simply sharing it is just as valuable. With people around you, at your kitchen table, within your network, at a dog club, horse association or nature organisation, or online through social media. In that way, this project grows beyond me alone and becomes something we make possible together.
